Syllabus

The defendant appealed from the trial court's judgment denying her special motion to dismiss the plaintiff's defamation action pursuant to the anti- SLAPP statute (§ 52-196a), claiming that the court improperly concluded that the plaintiff met his burden under § 52-196a of establishing probable cause that he would prevail on the merits of his complaint. Held: The trial court properly denied the defendant's motion to dismiss, this court having concluded that, viewing the pleadings and affidavits of the parties in the light most favorable to the plaintiff, the plaintiff satisfied the relatively minimal burden under § 52-196a of establishing probable cause that he would prevail on the merits of his complaint.
