Severance Agreement and General Release
Agreement providing severance compensation to a departing employee in exchange for a release of legal claims against the employer.
Instructions
State the severance amount, payment method, and any continued benefits. Include a broad release of claims (discrimination, wrongful termination, wage claims). For employees 40 and over, comply with the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act: allow 21 days to consider (45 days for group layoffs), provide a 7-day revocation period, and advise the employee to consult an attorney. Address non-disparagement, cooperation, and return of property.
