Legally binding contract between the sponsor and the U.S. government guaranteeing financial support for an immigrant at 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Instructions
The petitioning sponsor completes this form showing their household income meets 125% of the poverty guidelines for their household size (including the immigrant). Attach federal tax returns for the most recent three years, employment verification, and evidence of assets if income is insufficient. The obligation continues until the immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen, earns 40 qualifying quarters of work, permanently departs, or dies. A joint sponsor may be used if the primary sponsor's income is insufficient.
