Case summary
Equipped 251 model year 2000 and 2001electronically controlled engines with base injection timing calibrations that may have contained a defeat device. Will recalibrate all such engines by installing an EPA certified model year 2002 calibration. 104 of the 251 engines were recalibrated before being transferred to an ultimate purchaser. Komatsu will conduct a field campaign in which its authorized dealers will recalibrate the engines by replacing the electronic control modules (ECM) or reprogramming the existing ECM.
