Case summary
On June 22, Region 10 entered into an administrative Consent Agreement and Final Order with Pure Addiction Diesel Performance LLC (Pure Addiction) for violations of Title II of the Clean Air Act. Between January 2019 and April 2021 Pure Addiction sold 351 defeat devices and tampered with emission control systems of at least 139 heavy-duty diesel vehicles. In settlement of these violations Pure Addiction will pay a civil penalty of $148,733. The penalty amount was reduced based on the company's inability to pay a higher penalty and continue in business. This settlement is part of EPA's National Compliance Initiative for Stopping Aftermarket Parts Defeat Devices for Vehicles and Engines.
