Case summary
On September 29, 2021, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by States Industries, LLC for its veneer/plywood Plant in Eugene, Oregon. States Industries, LLC failed to implement filtration of zinc from its approximately 200,000 square foot galvanized roof and cover its industrial dumpsters. An unnamed tributary to the Willamette River is proximate to the Facility. The Upper Willamette River near Eugene, is impaired for temperature and a number of other pollutants. The Willamette Basin is home to 66% of Oregon?s population. Injunctive relief associated with this case will help limit pollutant loading and improve and protect water quality and the River?s natural resources. The Respondent has agreed to pay a penalty of $10,500 and has returned to compliance. The estimated cost of injunctive relief is $2,000.
