EPA v. STERICYCLE ENVIRONEMTAL SOLUTIONS
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
On December 12, 2018, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order to address Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) violations by Stericycle Environmental Solutions, Inc. at their Tacoma, WA and Kent, WA facilities. For each of five annual liability insurance policies, the coverage was inadequate to meet the conditions of the facilities' permits for bodily injury and property damage claims. This enforcement action will ensure that the required insurance coverage is in place, by which affected third parties will have access to compensation in the event of a release or other incident at or from the facilities. The company agreed to pay a penalty of $150,000.
