EPA v. OIL R10-AK-00444 - CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA (CWA 311 - SPCC)
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
On September 17, 2018, Region 10 filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ESA) to resolve Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) violations at the City of Kenai Dock located on the Kenai River in Kenai Alaska following a July 2017 SPCC inspection. The SPCC deficiencies included a lack of routine tank inspections and spill prevention training. The Kenai River is one of the main salmon spawning and rearing rivers in central Alaska, and a central location for the lower Cook Inlet salmon fishing industry. As part of the post-inspection compliance process, the city updated their SPCC plan. The Respondent also agreed to pay an ESA-based penalty of $1,575. Contact: Rick Cool, (206) 553-6223
