On December 9, 2016, Region 10 signed a consent agreement final order with Peninsula Truck Lines, Inc. (Peninsula) for violations of the Washington Department of Ecology Industrial Stormwater General Permit at its facility in Auburn, Washington. Region 10 inspected the facility on September 29 and October 1, 2014, as the result of the ongoing partnership with the state to ensure compliance and enforce clean water rules at industrial facilities to reduce pollutant levels in the Puget Sound. Industrial pollutants, if not properly controlled and treated, enter stormwater and waterways. Respondent failed to comply with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan requirements, sampling requirements, inspection and documentation requirements, annual reporting requirements, and Best Management Practices (BMP) requirements. Respondent exceeded its benchmark values since 2011 for turbidity, copper, and zinc and failed to implement adequate operational source BMPs to address these exceedances. Respondent agreed to pay a penalty of $36,800.
