EPA v. INCHELIUM WOOD TREATING PLANT SITE

Case summary

This CERCLA removal action will address contamination from a former wood treating operation within the exterior boundaries of the Colville Reservation in Inchelium, Washington. Contamination at the Site includes the metals copper, chromium, arsenic and lead. This facility is the subject of a RCRA Consent Agreement and Final Order that remained open because of lack of funding to address the contamination. The Tribe is allocating $2.5 million to the Colville Tribal Corporation to address the cleanup at this facility. This settlement agreement provides a mechanism for EPA to receive this funding and conduct a time critical removal action. Residences and a health clinic are across the street from the facility. This Site is within a community with EJ concerns.
