Case summary

On March 26, 2013, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with the Southeast Region of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT & PF), the owner and operator of one active and one temporarily abandoned motor vehicle waste disposal well located at maintenance facilities in Skagway and Wrangell, Alaska. Motor vehicle waste disposal wells were required to be closed in Alaska before January 1, 2005. ADOT & PF permanently closed the two wells in October 2012 and submitted the required final closure report on January 31, 2013. ADOT & PF agreed to pay a $67,000 penalty for its delay in closing the wells.
