Case summary

On December 12, 2012, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order with the City of Pierce, Idaho (City) for violations of its NPDES permit at the City’s water treatment facility. The City’s water treatment facility discharges treated filtered back wash and filter-to-waste water into Canal Creek. Between August 2007 through June 2012, the facility had 1,188 effluent limit violations of its NPDES permit, for exceeding effluent limitations for total suspended solids (TSS) and total residual chlorine (TRC).The City agreed to pay a penalty of $2,100 and is taking efforts to upgrade their Facility to address these violations.
