Case summary

On December 12, 2012, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order with the City of Pierce, Idaho (City) for violations of it NPDES permit at the City’s wastewater treatment facility. The City has agreed to pay a $4,800 penalty. The City’s wastewater treatment facility provides secondary treatment of wastewater prior to discharge to the Orofino Creek. Between August 2007 through June 2012, the facility had 2,303 effluent limit violations of its NPDES permit, for exceeding effluent limitations for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), total residual chlorine (TRC), Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria, and pH. The City completed upgrades to their Facility to address these violations in 2012.
