Case summary
On July 25, 2014, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a Joint Stipulation of Settlement and Judgment with the Alaska District Court resolving violations of Sections 301(a) and 311(b) of the CWA by BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc. (BPXA) located in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The court entered judgment on September 10, 2014. EPA alleged that between October 2007 and August 2011, BPXA was responsible for four oil spills from its Greater Prudhoe Bay Unit production facility that reached waters of the United States or adjoining shorelines on the North Slope in Alaska.
