EPA v. CITY SERVICE VALCON TANK TRUCK SPILL

Final Order With Penalty

Case summary

On April 5, 2012, Region 10 entered an Expedited Settlement Agreement in connection with the City Service Valcon Tank Truck Spill case. This enforcement action resulted from a 950-gallon unleaded fuel spill that occurred in November 2011. The spill was caused when a tank truck owned by City Service Valcon had an accident on Highway 12 and the trailer of the truck broke away, colliding with a vertical rock face. A slow discharge of gasoline was released into a roadside ditch directly adjacent to the Lochsa River. The terms of the settlement require City Service Valcon to pay a penalty of $3,000.
