Case summary

On Dec. 11, 2007, Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) personnel spilled disinfectants which killed all fish at the Grace Fish Hatchery. IDFG personnel were not following language on the disinfectant containers at the time of the spill and allowed the discharge of 130 lbs of dead fish. These are violations of the current NPDES permit for Grace Fish Hatchery. In Jan. 2004, levels of Total Suspended Solids at the outfall of the Grace Fish Hatchery exceeded daily maximum and monthly average limits identified in the previous NPDES permit. These were violations of that Permit.
