EPA v. Pacific Bridge Global - Alcohol Wipes Import (COVID-19)

Case summary

On July 20, 2020, Pacific Bridge Global Inc., attempted to import 75% Alcohol Wipes. The broker provided photographs of the package of this product. These showed that the label on the package bore the following pesticidal claims: Efficient Sterilization and Health Care; It also had the following directions for use: ?Scope of Application: Cleaning of object surface and skin? and the label listed alcohol as a main ingredient. The label did not contain an EPA registration number or an EPA establishment number. The 75% Alcohol Wipes described above is an unregistered pesticide. The distribution of an unregistered pesticide is an unlawful act under FIFRA Section 12(a)(1)(A), 7 U.S.C. Section 136j(a)(1)(A). All pesticides are required to be registered with EPA before their entry into the United States (unless certain exemptions are met), and pesticides entering the United States cannot be misbranded. Therefore, this entry is denied pursuant to Section 17(c) of FIFRA 7 U.S.C. Section 136o(c).
