The US EPA and Kloeckner Metals Corporation (Respondent) entered into this Consent Agreement and Final Order (CA/FO) to settle Respondent's alleged violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Underground Injection Control (UIC) requirements by failure to close the large capacity cesspool (LCC) at it's Kalaeloa Blvd facility in Kapolei, Hawaii. Respondent paid a civil penalty of $46,608 and must close the LCC and comply with applicable State requirements for any replacement system that may be installed. Respondent also agreed to perform a Supplemental Environmental Project replacing two small capacity cesspools with a septic system and adjoining leachfield approved by the Hawaii Department of Health, at a cost of $65,000.
