This is an administrative penalty action undertaken against Barrick Goldstrike Mines Inc. for violations of the hazardous material release reporting requirements of CERCLA §103. On June 22, 2011 there was a release of approx. 3200 pounds of anhydrous ammonia to the environment from the Barrick Goldstrike Mine. Respondent did not report the release to the NRC until after a 40 minute delay. Under the terms of the CA/FO Barrick has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $2,880.
