EPA v. The Bumper Shop CA/FO
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
On December 9, 2010, EPA entered into a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CA/FO) for eight Counts of RCRA hazardous waste violations at Bumper Shops metal plating facility located in Los Angeles, CA. The violations included improperly storing hazardous waste on site for longer than the 90-day time limit, failure to close hazardous waste containers, not labeling or improperly labeling hazardous waste containers, storing hazardous waste in crowded conditions that impaired inspection, failure to have contingency plan, inadequate training of personnel, and failure to submit a biennial report of hazardous waste generated. Under the terms of the CA/FO and as a result of EPAs review of financial documentation demonstrating the facilitys inability to pay the originally calculated penalty, Bumper Shop agrees to pay a $1,000 civil penalty
