Case summary

The US EPA is seeking assistance from the US DOJ in connection with a potential enforcement matter concerning the All Metals Processing Site, located in Los Angeles County, California. In 2007, EPA carried out a CERCLA removal action to clean up metal plating hazardous wastes left behind by All Metals Processing Co. after the company was evicted from the property. Soil beneath and adjacent to the metal plating building was also contaminated with metal plating hazardous substances. EPA incurred more than $2.26 million in costs in removing the abandoned metal plating liquid wasts, contaminated soil and ultimately, the building itself.
