G & K Services owns and operates commercial laundry facilities at 14700 Spring Avenue, in Santa Fe Springs, California, zip code 90670 (ASanta Fe Springs Facility@), and at 1229 California Avenue, in Pittsburg, California, zip code 94565 (APittsburg Facility@). At each of the Facilities, G & K Services was a large quantity generator (ALQG@) of hazardous wastes, including waste solvent (e.g., volatile organics, including benzene, chloroform, and trichloroethylene), used oil, used oil filters, spent fluorescent lamps, and spent antifreeze. EPA issued a notice of potential violations at the Pittsburg Facility and a Notice of Intent to File a Complaint for violations alleged at both Facilities to G & K Services on June 25, 2008. The violations alleged at the Pittsburg Facility are the same or similar to the violations alleged at the Santa Fe Springs Facility. Most of the violations concerned G & K Services= solvent recovery process.
