Case summary
This AO, pursuant to section 307 of the CWA, was issued to P.K. Selective Metal Plating, Inc. due to findings made during EPA's inspection of the Facility on January 14, 2004. This Order was issued due to P.K. Selective's failure to comply with Federal categorical pretreatment standards at 40 CFR 403 and 433.17. P.K. Selective is also in violation of the Federal pretreatment standards at 40 CFR 403.6(d), which prohibit dilution as a substitute for treatment. P.K. Selective has been discharging wastewater with a pH value less than five, which is the minimum pH value at which wastewater may be discharged under the Federal pretreatment standards. Finally, P.K. Selective is in violation of the reporting and resampling requirements under 40 CFR 403.12(e) and (g). The Order directs P.K. Selective to submit a preliminary engineering plan, cease dilution as a substitute for treatment, and begin monitoring the Facility's wastewater discharge to verify that they have come into compliance with the pretreatment standards at 40 CFR 433.17.
