On April 10, 2024, the EPA entered into an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) with Golden Aluminum of Fort Lupton, Colorado to resolve the facility's violations of the Pretreatment regulation. The facility conducts a coil coating process and a cold mill process that both produce industrial wastewater that discharges to the Fort Lupton Wastewater Treatment Facility collection system. The City does not have an approved pretreatment program, therefore EPA remains the control authority. This AOC requires Golden Aluminum to obtain conduct additional monitoring to identify potential sources of pollutant exceedances, and has completed process modifications to avoid future exceedance.
