On January 30, 2025 the EPA entered in an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) with Emit Technologies of Sheridan, Wyoming to resolve the facility's violations of the Pretreatment regulation The facility conducts metal finishing operations and discharges wastewater to the City of Sheridan, WY publicly owned treatment works, the City does not have an approved pretreatment program, therefore EPA remains the control authority. This AOC requires Emit to obtain a control mechanism due to metal finishing operations which would require conducting quarterly effluent sampling, notifying EPA within 24 hours of becoming aware of effluent violations, and completing reporting requirements.
