EPA v. Lodgepole Housing Fort Belknap
Final Order No Penalty
Case summary
On June 13, 2018, the EPA was notified of a pump failure at Lodgepole Housing. Water was temporarily provided by the Agnes Leggins Water System until June 18, 2018. When the Agnes Leggins water pressure dropped, the valve interconnecting the two systems was closed to allow pressure to build up at Agnes Leggins. The System was then required to provide an alternative source of water and post/deliver boil water advisory; disinfect and flush the system after replacing the pump; and take daily total coliform samples. Loss of pressure in a drinking water distribution system may cause backsiphonage, which can allow disease causing organisms to enter the distribution system. The new pump was subsequently installed.
