EPA v. CITY OF POPLAR MONTANA
Final Order No Penalty
Case summary
The State of Montana has referred the system to the EPA for failure to monitor for synthetic organic contaminants and exceeding the fluoride maximum contaminant level (MCL). On November 5, 2014, the EPA issued the required Notice of Violation letter to the State and the District. The EPA issued and Administrative Order(AO) on January 12, 2015 and incorporated a compliance plan and scheduled for returning to compliance in an Addendum tot the AO issued on March 23, 2015. The District failed to meet several deadlines in their Addendum and therefore the EPA is issuing an AOV and a new Addendum to the AO to incorporate the new plan and schedule to return to compliance with the Fluoride MCL.
