Case summary

On October 15, 2007, a crude oil leak in a two-foot section of the Raven Creek 6 Pipeline was discovered by a Citation Oil and Gas employee, who reported the discharge to Respondent. Approximately 100-150 barrels of crude oil mixed with water were recovered. On March 16, 2009, Respondent discovered a crude oil leak in a two-foot section of the Raven Creek 6 Pipeline during purging and abandonment of a portion of the pipeline. Belle Fourche performed emergency response and mitigation which included installation of booms, and removal of oil and water, and soil. As of March 23, 2009, over 160 barrels of crude oil mixed with river water had been recovered.
