EPA v. Birney Water System
Final Order No Penalty
Case summary
This Emergency Order is issued to the Northern Cheyenne Utilities because it has been determined that conditions at the public water system may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to the health of persons served by the water system. On 2/18/2008, the System's operator noticed low pressure in the water system. On 2/19/2008, the problem was identified as a broken pipe in the well, resulting in only a fraction of pumped water reaching the tank. On 2/20/2008, the well failed completely and pressure was lost in the distribution system.
