Case summary

Operable Unit 1 of the Vasquez Blvd/I-70 SF Site encompasses four residential neighborhoods in North-Central Denver, Swansea, Elyria, Clayton and Cole. ASARCO is the owner/operator of the Globe plant which is located Globeville and once was the location of the Globe smelter. The remedy for OU1 requires the removal of lead and arsenic contaminated soils from residential yards in these communities. EPA is currently conducting the remedy as a SF lead. EPA anticipates completing remedial action in approximately 300 yards by the end of 2004 and expects to conduct another 300 in 2005.
