Case summary

This emergency administrative order is issued to Hoback Stores due to high levels of nitrate. EPA has determined that, due to the level of nitrate found in the System, the System's water may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to the health of persons. EPA has found that infants below the age of 6 months who drink the water containing nitrate in excess of the MCL could become seriously ill and, if untreated, may die. An alternative source of water must be used for any culinary purposes until Respondent receives notification from EPA that alternative water is no longer necessary.
