Public Water Supply District #1 of Ozark County has had long term noncompliance with the requirements of the Radionuclide Rule of the SDWA by exceeding the maximum contaminant level for combined radium and gross alpha. Despite the Missouri Department of Natural Resources? efforts, including the offer to negotiate an Administrative Order on Consent and the issuance of a Unilateral Compliance Order, the System has remained out of compliance with the Radionuclide Rule. The SDWA 1431 EAO requires PWSD #1 of Ozark County to provide an alternate source of drinking water to System users and to retain an engineer to evaluate and propose possible permanent solutions to address the radionuclide MCL exceedances.
