EPA v. BF BYPRODUCTS, LLC
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
On October 31, 2018, BF Byproducts released approximately 500 gallons of grease into an unnamed creek that flows into the Big Piney River. The release occurred because of the unattended transfer of grease from a truck to the undersized storage tank and resulted in a response action from both the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the EPA Region 7 to contain the release and prevent it from entering Big Piney River. EPA's inspection revealed significant violations of the SPCC program, including failure to have a properly prepared and implemented SPCC Plan as required by 40 C.F.R. Part 112.
