THE LEAVENWORTH SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM EXPERIENCES NUMEROUS BACKUPS AND OVERFLOWS OF SANITARY SEWAGE RESULTING FROM BLOCKAGES AND DEFECTS IN THE COLLECTION SYSTEM CAUSED BY INSUFFICIENT MAINTENANCE AND LACK OF TIMELY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. THE CITY OF LEAVENWORTH AGREES TO IMPROVE ITS OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PRACTICES TO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE FREQUENCY OF SUCH BACKUPS AND OVERFLOWS AND TO IMPLEMENT A PROGRAM FOR MORE TIMELY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF IDENTIFIED DEFECTS CONTRIBUTING TO SUCH OVERFLOWS AND BACKUPS.
