EPA v. Shintech-Multiple locations, LA - RMP CAFO

Case summary

On January 20, 2024, there was an incident at the Plaquemine Facility that resulted in an accidental release (the Incident ). EPA conducted an inspection of the Plaquemine Facility from December 2 to December 6, 2024, to determine Respondent's compliance with Section 112(r) of the CAA, 42 U.S.C. ? 7412(r), and 40 C.F.R. Part 68 (the Plaquemine Inspection ). On January 2, 2025 (Addis Plant A), and June 24, 2025 (Plaquemine Plant), EPA sent Respondent a Notice letter. On July 17, 2025 (Addis Plant A), and July 31, 2025 (Plaquemine Plant). EPA conferred with Respondent regarding the violations alleged herein. EPA determined nine (9) violations.
