Case summary

From January 29 to February 1, 2024, EPA Region 6 conducted a CAA 112(r) compliance inspection at Shintech located in Addis, Louisiana (the ?Facility?). The purpose of the inspection was to determine Shintech?s compliance with the requirements of the CAA, and specifically the Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions. From December 2-6, 2024, EPA Region 6 conducted a CAA 112(r) compliance inspection at Shintech located in Plaquemine, Louisiana (the ?Facility?). The purpose of the inspection was to determine Shintech?s compliance with the requirements of the CAA, and specifically the Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions. Shintech subsequently provided EPA with additional information and participated in discussions regarding the inspection with EPA. The information currently available to EPA, collected as a result of the inspection, suggests that Shintech may be in violation of the CAA. This AOC captures the extensive corrective actions taken based on the alleged violations in accordance with the Compliance First memo.
