Case summary

On August 19, 2025, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Section 309 of the Clean Water Act to the TDCJ Coffield Unit Wastewater Treatment Facility, in Anderson County, TX. The AO was issued in response to effluent violations of the Unit's TPDES permit limits. The AOs requires the facility to 1) immediately comply with the permit, 2) submit a list of specific actions taken to correct the violations with a certification that the violations have been corrected, or 3) submit a compliance plan if the violations cannot be corrected within 30 days.
