Case summary

EPA conducted an on site partial compliance evaluation inspection of the Facility from July 21-23, 2021, to determine compliance with Section 112(r) of the CAA, and 40 CFR Part 68. EPA Region 6 held a follow-up meeting with representatives for Respondent on September 1, 2021, regarding Areas of Concern from the Facility inspection. On April 4, 2022, the EPA sent Respondent a Notice of Potential Violation and Opportunity to Confer (NOPVOC) letter. EPA determined seven findings of violation of Part 68. In addition to paying a civil penatly, Celanese agreed to complete a SEP.
