Case summary
On September 1, 2017, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to the Pueblo of Nambe (Respondent) located in New Mexico. The AO was issued in response to a violation of the running annual average uranium maximum contaminant level. The AO requires the Respondent to provide an alternative water source to at risk populations and begin daily sampling for Uranium for fourteen (14) days within forty-eight (48) hours of the receipt of the order. The order also suggests providing an alternative water source to all customers.
