Case summary

On June 8, 2016 EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO)under its authority pursuant to Sections 1414(g) and 1445 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to the Bicentennial Rest Area water system, owned by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)(Respondent), for SDWA violations. On June 26, 2015, EPA Region 6 previously issued an AO to NMDOT for to failure to correct sanitary deficiencies identified during a survey by the New Mexico Environment Department within 120 days of notification. Respondent did not meet the compliance deadline for in that AO, and requested an extension and proposed a new compliance deadline of October 1, 2016. The second AO incorporates the new compliance deadline.
