On June 8, 2016, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO)under its authority pursuant to Sections 1414(g) and 1445 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to the Rattlesnake Draw Rest Area water system. On 6/26/2015, EPA Region 6 issued a previous AO to the Rattlesnake Draw Rest Area water system, owned by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) (Respondent), for SDWA violations. The AO was issued in response to monitoring and reporting violations for total coliform bacteria, exceedance of the maximum contaminant level for nitrates, and failure to correct sanitary deficiencies within 120 days of notification. The second AO contains a schedule for compliance with all violations.
