EPA v. Boise Packaging and Newsprint LLC

Case summary

On August 24, 2015, EPA R6 entered into an Administrative Compliance Order on Consent (AOC) with Boise Packaging and Newsprint, LLC (Boise) DeRidder Mill, located in DeRidder, Louisiana. The AOC is in response to violations of the General Duty Clause of the Clean Air Act identified during the investigation of an incident that occurred at Boise?s DeRidder Mill on August 27, 2014. EPA found that Boise failed to maintain a safe facility by not accurately tracking preventative maintenance and repairs at the DeRidder Mill. Under the AOC Boise will perform a third party audit of their work order system at the DeRidder Mill and implement recommendations of the audit to ensure that requirements of the General Duty Clause are met.
