Case summary

On January 8, 2015, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) under its authority pursuant to the Clean Air Act to GeoSouthern Energy Corporation (GeoSouthern). The AOC was issued in response to violations of Section 112(r)(1) of the Clean Air Act at the Oro Negro Unit 2 1H well site. The AOC requires GeoSouthern to hire a third party safety and health expert to conduct a hazard analysis on Respondent's hot work activities generally. The expert shall be recognized as an expert on hot work safety and shall prepare a written report analyzing the hot work practices related to oil and gas production facilities currently in place at Respondent's facilities.assessment and complete a written report. Within 225 days of the effective date of this Order, GeoSouthern shall provide to EPA a plan on how the expert's recommendations will be addressed and implemented.
