Final Order No Penalty
Case summary
Nambe Headstart Program continues to exceed the maximum contaminant level for an inorganic compound, selenium. On March 4, 2015, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Sections 1414(g) and 1445 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to Nambe Headstart Water System (Respondent) for SDWA violations. The AO was issued in response to an inorganic compund, selenium, for levels in drinking water above the maximum contaminant level (MCL). This AO addresses violations spanning one year, though the PWS has not been compliant with the MCL for selenium in over two years. The AO requires Respondent to monitor selenium, and maintain this contaminant below the national standard. Respondent must respond to EPA Region 6 within 15 days of the issuance date of the AO.
