Case summary

On August 21, 2014, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Sections 308 and 309 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to Short Oil Company (Respondent) located in Osage County, Oklahoma. The AO was issued in response to an unauthorized produced wastewater discharge to a waters of the US. The AO requires Respondent to (1) cease any continued discharge of pollutants; (2) remove all produced water from the flow path located between the facility and the discharge point of entry into the tributary of Bird Creek; and (3) remove all produced wastewater from the tributary of Bird Creek, which was discharged from the facility on or about March 18, 2014. Respondent must respond to EPA Region 6 within thirty days of receiving the AO.
