Case summary
On June 2, 2014, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to the City of Wellman (Respondent), Texas. The AO was in response to violation of the arsenic maximum contaminant level (MCL). The AO requires Respondent to comply immediately with the required MCL or to submit to EPA: 1) a detailed plan to meet the arsenic MCL; 2) a cost analysis of the proposed plan; and 3) a construction schedule.
