On March 25,2013, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant toSections 308 and 309(a) of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to the Village of Chama for violations at its Wastewater Treatment Facility located in the Village of Chama, NM. The AO was issued in response to the following permit violations: 1) Operation and Maintainance requirements; 2) Record Keeping requirements; 3) effluent limit violations; and 4) failure to submit quarterly reports. The AO requires the Village of Chama to 1) provide maintenance to equipment to ensure effective treatment of the wastewater; 2) submit a Nutrient Managment Plan and compliance summaries; and 3) certify compliance with permit limitations. The Village of Chama must respond to EPA Region 6 within thirty (30) days of receipt of the order.
