Case summary
On February 14, 2013, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Section 308 and 309(a) of the Clean Water Act to Gadsden Independent School District #16 (GISD) located in Anthony, New Mexico. The AO was issued to GISD in response to effluent violations of its NPDES Permt discovered at its wastewater treatment plant. The AO requires GISD to: 1) certify compliance with permit effluent limitations for E. coli, pH and total suspended solids; 2) provide a list of all mechanical and operational deficiencies; and 3) provide proof of operator certification. GISD must respond to EPA Region 6 within 30 days.
