Case summary
On April 16, 2013, EPA Region 6 issued a Proposed Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Section 1421 of the Safe Drinking Water Act to GKM Oil and Gas, Inc. (Respondent), in Ralston, Oklahoma. The AO was issued in response to the following violation: failure to maintain an injection well in a manner that prevents movement of contaminants through the well bore into underground sources of drinking water (USDWs). The AO requires Respondent to complete the following corrective actions: 1) complete plugging of the well; 2) convert it to production; or 3) repair it and demonstrate mechanical integrity.
