Case summary
On August 31, 2012, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Sections 308 and 309 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to Graham Oil Company located in Osage County, OK. The AO was issued in response to the following violation of Section 301 of the CWA: an unauthorized discharge of oil field brine and produced wastewater to a water of the U.S. The AO requires Graham Oil Company to: 1) cease all discharges of pollutants from the facility; 2) remove all brine from the flow path between the facility and Clear Creek; and 3) remove all brine from the tributary of Clear Creek which was discharged from the facility on or about July 20, 2012. Graham Oil Company must respond to EPA Region 6 within thirty (30) days of receiving this AO.
